Biography

Dr. Olbrecht graduated as class valedictorian and Alpha Omega Alpha from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2007. She completed her internship in General Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2008 before transitioning to her anesthesia residency at the same institution. She joined the faculty at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 2012 after finishing her pediatric anesthesia fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She received her MBA from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. At Cincinnati Children’s, she was an Associate Professor in Anesthesiology and Pediatrics and the Director of Quality Improvement and Accreditation for Procedural Sedation for the hospital, the Associate Director of Research for the Department of Anesthesiology, and the Clinical Director of the Procedure Center. Dr. Olbrecht joined Nationwide Children’s Hospital in the summer of 2021 as the Vice Chair of Quality Improvement and Development and is helping to lead the Fetal Care Center project.

Dr. Olbrecht’s research focuses on the use of virtual reality technology in the management of pediatric pain. She has multiple publications in major journals focused on clinical outcomes in both surgery and anesthesia and has presented her work at local and national meetings. She has received multiple grants for her work and is currently funded through the National Institute’s of Health (NIH) with an R34 grant. Publications

Dr. Olbrecht graduated as class valedictorian and Alpha Omega Alpha from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2007. She completed her internship in General Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2008 before transitioning to her anesthesia residency at the same institution.
