Priyal Patel, DO is a pediatric hematology/oncology and pediatric palliative and hospice provider at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is a graduate of New York Institute of Technology-College of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school, she completed her Pediatric Residency, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/ Blood and Marrow Transplant Fellowship and Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Patel research interest resides in the intersection between oncology and palliative medicine. Dr. Patel’s past research projects and publications have investigated the bleeding in children with 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, role of LSD2 in Ewing Sarcomagenesis and end of life care in BMT patients. She has most recently published her work in the Journal of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Oncotarget and Journal of Pediatrics. Currently, she is investigating the role of Ketamine for pain control for patients on immunotherapy to optimize the patient experience.
Dr. Patel also possesses a strong academic interest in palliative medicine education. To this end, she is pursuing her master’s in medical education.
