Pleasure Guild, a 102-year-old organization of 45 women committed to raising funds for Nationwide Children’s Hospital Hospice and Palliative Care program, recently presented a check totaling $248,766.67 to the hospital. Pleasure Guild’s donation will benefit children for whom a cure is beyond reach and is directed toward paying for the uncompensated expenses of the Hospice and Palliative Care program. The services are typically provided in a child’s home to keep the child comfortable and provide spiritual and emotional support to the child and their family. “We’re honored and humbled to give back to our local community and help children in need,” said Stephanie Doherty, president of Pleasure Guild. “As we kick off our fundraising drive for 2010-11, we hope to contribute an even larger check next year to the hospital.” Doherty said the donation was not possible without the support of local corporations and individuals. Since the organization’s inception, Pleasure Guild has contributed more than $3.7 million to Nationwide Children’s. In addition to individual and corporate contributions, the women of Pleasure Guild organize and participate in several fundraisers, including Once Upon a Night, a black-tie gala; and SPAGIO: A Celebration of Wine, Food and Dining with the Stars. Additionally, Pleasure Guild’s largest fundraiser is a professionally directed family production held annually in March at the Palace Theatre in Columbus. Pleasure Guild will present Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat March 11-13, 2011. Pleasure Guild also recently elected its 2010-11 leadership team, including a diverse group of women across the central Ohio area. Board members serve a one-year term. 2010-11 Pleasure Guild Board of Directors: President – Stephanie Doherty, of Hilliard 43026 Vice President – Sarah Miller, of Upper Arlington 43221 Secretary – Shelley Straub, of Upper Arlington 43221 Treasurer – Wendy Hauswirth, of Upper Arlington 43221 Hospital Chair – Miranda Roberts, of Dublin 43016 Play Chair Marketing – Diane Hurd, of Grove City 43123 Play Chair Production – Stephanie Plant, of Worthington 43085 Strategic Planning – Laura Ubert, of Upper Arlington 43221 Events Chair – Debbie Segor, of Upper Arlington 43221 Communications Chair – Carrie Dombrowski, of Upper Arlington 43221 Advisor – Nicole Papa-Odegaard, of Worthington 43085 For more information about Pleasure Guild, visit www.pleasureguild.org.
