Phototherapy Equipment
Phototherapy is ordered by physicians for babies who have jaundice or hyperbilirubinemia – which is high levels of bilirubin in a baby’s blood. Homecare’s HME technicians deliver and setup phototherapy equipment on a baby at home, and teach parents on proper use. Patients usually need to be on the phototherapy equipment for just one to three days. The baby’s physician will request lab draws each day to test for bilirubin levels. Once the baby is discharged from the phototherapy service, an HME technician will arrange to pick up the equipment.
