Via Colori®, a street painting festival, will be held Saturday, September 8 through Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Goodale Park in Columbus. The festival showcases more than 150 artists, professional and amateur, who paint original masterpieces in a pastel medium on the streets. These artists, funded by sponsors, volunteer their time and talent to support Columbus Childrens Hospital, the beneficiary of this years event. The Center for Injury Research and Policy (CIRP) of The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital has invited selected scientists outside the United States whose work is primarily concerned with injury control and prevention to become international affiliate faculty. Moms who have diabetes of any kind (type 1, type 2 or diabetes during pregnancy) are no different from other moms in many ways. Unfortunately, though, they are less likely to start breastfeeding their newborns and to continue it for at least two months, according to a recent study done by a researcher here at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. But why? Although women with diabetes did have some of the same reasons as other moms for not starting breastfeeding or for stopping within two months, the researchers found that their decision involved factors many new mothers don’t have to worry about: diabetic illness and medications....
