Columbus, OH – On Thursday, August 2, participating Dairy Queen® locations in central Ohio will come together to raise funds for Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. On Miracle Treat Day, $1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat sold will support the life-saving research and care provided by Nationwide Children’s. Last year, more than $34,000 was raised for the pediatric hospital. The first lung transplant at Columbus Children’s Hospital occurred Monday, July 11, 2005 when twenty-three-year-old Emily DeArdo of Pickerington, Ohio, received two lungs. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at 11 years of age, DeArdo has been cared for since then at the CF Foundation-accredited Children’s Hospital Cystic Fibrosis Center by Chief of Pulmonary Medicine Karen McCoy, MD. DeArdo graduated from Capital University in Columbus and works fulltime at the Statehouse.
