Right torticollis (tor ti COLL iss) is a tightening of the muscles on the right side of the neck. It results in your child frequently bending his or her head to the right side and looking to the left side. Your child may not able to easily turn his or her head to the right due to the muscle tightness. If this is not corrected, it can lead to continued muscle tightness, changes in head shape, and uneven facial appearance (right and left sides of the face do not match)....

A recent study from San Diego University identified a correlation between the increased amount of time teens spend using electronic devices and increased symptoms of depression. The study does not prove that increased screen time causes increased symptoms of depression, but does indicate that there may be a link between the two. Girls were six times more likely to report symptoms of depression compared to the boys in the study. A potential reason for this may be the different ways they are spending their screen time....

Today during a Columbus Metropolitan Club forum, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, the Columbus Public Health Department and more than a dozen other local organizations came together to, once again, spark a community-wide conversation about the state of pediatric health in Franklin County, and unveil the 2010-11 Full Potential Collaborative Children’s Health Report – a comprehensive follow-up to the original report first introduced in May 2008. By seeking the advice of patients, families and other stakeholders in designing a clinical trial investigating pediatric appendicitis, researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital found a way to significantly increase the number of people recruited and retained in the trial. Recruitment of patients increased by 30 percent after changes were made to the wording of the enrollment script, and retention of patients increased by 27 percent after an email/online option was offered for completing follow-up questionnaires, preferred times of contact were attained and reminder letters were sent out about the follow-ups....
