Biography
Nilsa C. Ramirez, MD, is a board certified anatomic pathologist with subspecialty training in gynecologic pathology and expertise in perinatal and obstetrical pathology, as well as in biobanking in the context of adult and pediatric cancer clinical trials. She is the director of Autopsy Services within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH. She also directs the Biopathology Center, housed at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, overseeing specimen collection, processing, banking and distribution efforts. At The Ohio State University College of Medicine, she is a professor of Clinical Pathology and an active member of the Translational Therapeutics Program of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center. At this time she is Principal Investigator (PI) of numerous grants, including the Pediatric Division of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network, and contact PI of the NCI-sponsored grants supporting the Biospecimen Banks of the Children’s Oncology Group and SWOG. Dr. Ramirez is the Convenor of Working Group 2 - Biobank and Bioresources of the US Technical Advisory Group to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 276 Biotechnology; she also represents the College of American Pathologists (CAP) in that committee. At the CAP she is the advisor of the Biorepository Accreditation Program (BAP) Committee and the Regional Commissioner of the CAP BAP. Dr. Ramirez participates in the Group Banking Committee of the NCI’s Cancer Diagnosis Program where she is an active member of several subcommittees and is a member of the NCI-sponsored Frederick National Laboratory Advisory Committee.

Nilsa C.
