The New Onset Seizure Clinic is a specialized clinic within our Epilepsy Center that addresses more than a patient’s immediate medical needs. It also focuses on the educational and psychosocial needs of the child and the family when they have encountered a first seizure or a new diagnosis of epilepsy. Our multidisciplinary team comprises:

Pediatric Neurologist/Epileptologist Pediatric Neuropsychologists/Psychologists Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Pediatric Epilepsy Social Workers Educators/Social Workers from the Epilepsy Foundation of Central Ohio

Clinic visits will involve a consultation with a pediatric neurologist or pediatric nurse practitioner followed by consultation with other members of the team as needed. An important goal of this visit is to educate patients and families about seizures and epilepsy. Children requiring ongoing care will continue to be followed through the clinic. Physician Referral Information Primary care physicians and pediatric specialists can refer children with a first-time afebrile seizure or new onset of epilepsy to the clinic.
