Steven C. Matson, MD, has recently been appointed section chief of Adolescent Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and division chief at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, effective December 2014. Dr. Matson came to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2008 and in 2009, he was named director of the Medication Assisted Treatment for Addiction Clinic at Nationwide Children’s. He currently serves as medical director at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Facility and is president of the Ohio Chapter of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He is a member of the Opioid Medical Support Clinical Advisory Panel for the State of Ohio, the Credentialing Committee of the American Board of Addiction Medicine and is a Consultant to the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine Clinical Subcommittee for Alcohol and Other Drugs. He has published widely on substance abuse and substance abuse treatment in adolescents and is considered a national expert on this topic. He is board certified in general pediatrics, adolescent medicine and addiction medicine. Dr. Matson, also an associate professor of Pediatrics in the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University, received his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN, and completed pediatric internship and residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was an adolescent medicine fellow at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Before coming to Nationwide Children’s, he served as division chief of Adolescent Medicine at the University of Florida in Jacksonville.
