Biography
Natalie Jacobowski, MD, is a pediatric palliative care and hospice physician as well as an adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She is also an assistant clinical professor at The Ohio State University. Dr. Jacobowski is a graduate of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She did her psychiatry training at Vanderbilt University, her child and adolescent psychiatry training at the Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital, and her palliative care training at the Children’s Hospital of Philadephia. She is board certified in Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She clinically cares for patients with the Advanced Illness Management (AIM) team providing palliative care for patients and their families. She also spends clinical time on the psychiatry service with an emphasis on psycho-oncology to address the psychiatric needs of patients diagnosed with cancer as well as providing psychiatric services to patients with other life-threatening and critical illness throughout the hospital. She has presented at the national level regarding identifying and treating psychiatric symptoms in children and young adults facing life threatening illness and receiving palliative care services. This has included national presentations as well as clinical and research interest in accurate identification and treatment of delirium, both in palliative care patients and in many critically ill patients throughout the hospital. Her background in adult and child psychiatry has also led to a clinical and research interest in the unique developmental and psychiatric needs of children, adolescents, and young adults receiving palliative care as well as during and after cancer treatment.
