Learn more about Namrita Odackal

Biography

Namrita Odackal, DO, is a clinician-educator, medical illustrator and toddler parent. She is especially interested in improving NICU parent and trainee education through visual modalities. Dr. Odackal pursues this goal through her role as Neonatologist in the Fetal Clinic as well as Assistant Program Director of the Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship. Dr. Odackal is also extensively involved in advocating for and educating women neonatologists on a national scale as the Newsflash Editor and member of the Women in Neonatology Steering Committee, a special interest group of the Section of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine of AAP. She grew up in Chicago and has travelled across the country for her training, including New York, Virginia and Colorado - and is happy to settle back into the Midwest with her husband, son and two cats.

“During this most difficult time in a NICU parent's life, I believe that neonatal care providers can make a world of difference and restore some sense of control by helping parents understand as much as they are able regarding what their child is going through. I believe tapping into the 'visual learner' in each individual, provider and parent alike, helps fulfil this responsibility.”
