Research
Dr. Spencer’s research focus is attempting to understand the mechanisms operational in maintaining sterility and preventing infection in the kidney and urinary tract. Specifically, he and his team are interested in defining how antimicrobial peptides, a ubiquitous component of the innate immune system, maintain urinary tract sterility. His long-term goals are to determine the precise role that antimicrobial peptides play in the regulation and prevention of urinary tract infections. Publications
