Biography

John D. Mahan, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University College of Medicine (OSU COM). He is also Director of the Nationwide Children’s Center for Faculty Development and Program Director of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program. Dr. Mahan received his Medical Degree from Hahnemann Medical College (now Drexel University). His clinical and research interests include growth failure in children with chronic kidney disease, treatments of glomerular disorders, pediatric dialysis and renal transplantation and emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including bisphosphonates and burosumab. He is also engaged in advancing medical education through innovative teaching methods and efforts to develop evidence based medical education, particularly as Co-Director of the Pediatric Resident Burnout - Resilience Study Consortium. Dr. Mahan is a member of the OSU COM Center for Faculty Engagement, Advancement and Mentoring (FAME) Executive Committee; Chairman of the Pedialink Editorial Board for the American Academy of Pediatrics; Co-Chair of the Professional Education Committee of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) and a member of IPNA Council; and Co-Chair of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology Training Program Directors Committee. He is a founding member and President of the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium. He is a Co-PI for the NIH Cure-GN Longitudinal study. He also is a member of the Board and the Medical Advisory Board of the National Kidney Foundation serving Central Ohio.

Research

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children. Publications

Research

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children. Publications

Biography

John D. Mahan, MD, is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University College of Medicine (OSU COM). He is also Director of the Nationwide Children’s Center for Faculty Development and Program Director of the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program. Dr. Mahan received his Medical Degree from Hahnemann Medical College (now Drexel University). His clinical and research interests include growth failure in children with chronic kidney disease, treatments of glomerular disorders, pediatric dialysis and renal transplantation and emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including bisphosphonates and burosumab. He is also engaged in advancing medical education through innovative teaching methods and efforts to develop evidence based medical education, particularly as Co-Director of the Pediatric Resident Burnout - Resilience Study Consortium. Dr. Mahan is a member of the OSU COM Center for Faculty Engagement, Advancement and Mentoring (FAME) Executive Committee; Chairman of the Pedialink Editorial Board for the American Academy of Pediatrics; Co-Chair of the Professional Education Committee of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) and a member of IPNA Council; and Co-Chair of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology Training Program Directors Committee. Dr. Mahan received his Medical Degree from Hahnemann Medical College (now Drexel University). His clinical and research interests include growth failure in children with chronic kidney disease, treatments of glomerular disorders, pediatric dialysis and renal transplantation and emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including bisphosphonates and burosumab. He is also engaged in advancing medical education through innovative teaching methods and efforts to develop evidence based medical education, particularly as Co-Director of the Pediatric Resident Burnout - Resilience Study Consortium. Dr. Mahan is a member of the OSU COM Center for Faculty Engagement, Advancement and Mentoring (FAME) Executive Committee; Chairman of the Pedialink Editorial Board for the American Academy of Pediatrics; Co-Chair of the Professional Education Committee of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association (IPNA) and a member of IPNA Council; and Co-Chair of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology Training Program Directors Committee. He is a founding member and President of the Board of Directors of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium. He is a Co-PI for the NIH Cure-GN Longitudinal study. Research

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children. Publications

Research

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children. Publications

Research

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children. Publications

John D. Mahan, MD research interests include medical education, particularly in understanding and addressing wellness in trainees and practitioners and innovative methods in medical education. He is active in studies of treatment of growth failure in children in chronic kidney disease as well as evidence-based approaches to childhood nephrotic syndrome and other glomerular disorder. He is also an active investigator in emerging therapies for metabolic bone disorders in children, including multiple studies of efficacy of bisphosphonates and burosumab in children.
