Biography

Jeffrey Papiernik, MD, joined Nationwide Children’s Hospital and is serving jointly in the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplant as medical director of the Apheresis Program and as a pathologist in the Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine programs. Prior to joining Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Papiernik was the Assistant Medical Director and Medical Director of Therapeutic Apheresis at Hoxworth Blood Center through the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his clinical pathology residency at the Washington University of St. Louis School of Medicine in the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine. Dr. Papiernik completed his fellowship in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine at Hoxworth Blood Center through the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Society for Apheresis and the American Association of Blood Banks. Dr. Papiernik’s research interests predominantly include transfusion medicine and apheresis.  He is an avid sports fan and loyal supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians.
