(From the May 2022 Issue of MedStat) Celebrating the Growth and Change of Homecare Due to increased demands for pediatric home care in central Ohio and beyond, Nationwide Children’s Homecare Pharmacy and HME physical spaces at 255 E. Main Street have been renovated and expanded. The Pharmacy has more than doubled in size with new workstations for staff, increased storage, dedicated shipping/receiving and a larger refrigeration area. The new space also has USP 797 clean rooms, equipped with negative air flow hoods and compounding areas three times the size of the former area to support larger volumes of home infusions. HME’s area has expanded to more than twice its original size. The new location in the lower level of 255 will make shipping and receiving easier since there will be direct access to the freight elevator, state-of-the-art cleaning equipment, new packaging equipment and larger areas for storage that include auto-fill shelving. To support their clinical staff, Homecare has constructed a new skills lab. The skills lab provides clinicians with space that larger than the former skills room. The new conference-style room includes seating for class/conference-style meetings, new AV equipment for presentations, updated training equipment, additional simulation manikins and secure storage areas. The new and improved space supports current staff who receive ongoing competencies and evaluations. It will also provide a space for onboarding new staff, where they can receive education and orientation before going out into the field. The Hospice team has completed an intensive, four-day Ohio Department of Health visit for licensure, certification and emergency preparedness survey. The Hospice team is pleased to report they passed with flying colors and zero citations. This spring, Homecare celebrates its successes, knowing the result is best patient care.
