Biography

Gerd McGwire, MD, PhD, is a member of Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Section of Hospital Pediatrics since 2006. She is board-certified in Pediatric Hospital Medicine as well as General Pediatrics and is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. McGwire completed her MD degree and a PhD in Pharmacology at University of Illinois at Chicago followed by a pediatric residency at University of Chicago Children’s Hospital. She worked at a Pediatric Hospitalist within the University of Chicago system for 2 years before moving to the Buckeye state. She is an attending physician on the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Inpatient Service where she teaches residents and medical students. Her clinical interests include all aspects of general pediatric acute illnesses with particular emphasis on asthma. Dr. McGwire is a Co-Medical Director of the Nationwide Children’s Clinical Pathway Program and has been nationally involved in initiatives to improve quality and value of care through Clinical Pathway development.
