Dr Kavitha Kotha Appointed Physician In Pulmonary Medicine At Nationwide Childrens Hospital

Kavitha Kotha, MD, recently was appointed as a physician in Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kotha comes to Nationwide Children’s from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. In addition to her appointment at Nationwide Children’s, Dr. Kotha will serve as an assistant professor in Pediatrics at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Medicine. “We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Kotha to Nationwide Children’s Hospital,” said Karen McCoy, MD, chief of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s and also a professor of Pediatrics at OSU College of Medicine. “Her expertise will be invaluable to our patients, our program and to our entire team.” Dr. Kotha completed her fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Cincinnati Children’s in August 2013. She completed her residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron (2010), and served as chief resident to the pediatric residency program while at Akron Children’s. Dr. Kotha earned her doctorate of medicine from the Northeast Ohio Medical University (formerly NEOUCOM) in 2006, and her bachelor of sciences in natural sciences from the University of Akron in 2002. Dr. Kotha is the recipient of a number of awards and grants throughout her educational career, and is a member of various professional societies. She has conducted research projects in pediatric pulmonary medicine including the nutrition and growth of patients living with cystic fibrosis. Dr. Kotha is married to her husband Craig Plowgian, MD, and together, they have two sons, Tejas and Rohan. The Section of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital diagnoses and manages all acute and chronic respiratory disorders and diseases in children. The Section ranked 10th in Pulmonology on the 2013-14 U.S. News and World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals list. The Pulmonary Medicine team at Nationwide Children’s treats patients with various conditions, including cystic fibrosis, asthma, sleep disorders, advanced lung disease, and is a certified center in lung and heart-lung transplant.
