The Development Board is a dynamic group of Columbus area business professionals who are committed to raising funds to support various programs at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Membership Information The Development Board recruits vibrant professionals for membership September through November annually. While the membership process does require a referral from an existing member, there are numerous volunteer opportunities that allow for membership interaction and that provide insight to Development Board’s fundraising events and activities.
Events The Development Board supports Nationwide Children’s Hospital through several events throughout the year, including: Columbus Duck Race & Run The Columbus Duck Race takes place down a GIANT slip ‘n slide. The race attracts thousands of participants for family and children’s activities and fun. The rubber duck race itself is a mass splash of thousands of ducks and is truly something to see. The Columbus Duck Race gives you the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children by simply buying a rubber duck racer. Pay It Forward Party Enjoy a fun night of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, raffles, Fund-A-Need and so much more! Learn about this year’s event. The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic The Woody Hayes Celebrity Classic is the signature fundraising event of the Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The outing functions as a 4-person team golf scramble with assigned tee times. Golfers enjoy a day of golf that includes breakfast, lunch, on course snacks and drinks. Rock ’n Bowl Dust off your bowling shoes and join the Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital at Columbus Square Bowling Palace. The day consists of 3 – two-hour bowling sessions with a complimentary pre-session happy hour for all bowlers. Bowling teams enjoy raffles, live entertainment and the option to have pizza delivered to their lane! Rock ‘N Bowl currently benefits The Center for Family Safety and Healing and Lawyers for Kids. Form a team of five and raise funds to help break the cycle of family violence. Minimum team commitment is $500. Projects Holiday Party for the Families of the Center for Family Safety and Healing The Development Board of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in partnership with the Center for Family Safety and Healing welcomes Columbus families who are less fortunate to a celebration of the season. These families will enjoy pizza, wings, subs, cookie decorating and pictures with Santa. Additionally, each family receives customized presents. Several local businesses donate to this evening of laughter and fun. Admitting Gift Cart The Development Board also provides its members with the opportunity to interact with our patients and families. All patients that are admitted to the hospital are given a small gift. This gift takes on all different shapes and sizes for our various aged kids. It can be a toy car, a game, a magic wand, or even a magazine! While this gift is small in size it often provides our visitors with a BIG smile. Gifts are distributed by Development Board Members on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
