Biography

David Rogers, MD, is an Ohio native who earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University. He completed medical school at Wright State University. His ophthalmology residency training was at Indiana University School of Medicine and fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus was completed at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Rogers is a busy clinician with 15 years’ experience in pediatric ophthalmic surgery. He is also a committed researcher and serves in a number of administrative roles. He has served as the Chief of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital since January 2019 and most recently became the interim Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Dayton Children’s Hospital in February 2021. He is active on multiple committees at Nationwide Children’s Hospital outside of the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rogers is actively engaged with the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, serving in numerous leadership roles and on various committees. Dr. Rogers is committed to education. He has served as the Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship Director since 2015. He is constantly refining the program to provide the best educational experience for the fellows. The program recruits and trains excellent pediatric ophthalmologists under his leadership. Dr. Rogers is also heavily involved in training residents of The Ohio State University Department of Ophthalmology. He actively publishes research and has presented all over the world. Dr. Rogers also serves as a journal reviewer for multiple, major journals. In 2010, he co-founded the Pediatric Intracranial Hypertension Clinic at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This clinic has grown exponentially since its inception and is an excellent resource for specialized care of patients with intracranial hypertension. This clinic receives referrals from all over the world. Dr. Rogers is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is board certified and recertified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rogers resides in Powell, Ohio, where he enjoys life with his wife and three children.

Research

Dr. Rogers is highly active in the area of research and serves as a research mentor for multiple residents each year. Dr. Rogers is a leader in the research of both pediatric intracranial hypertension and Batten Disease. He also participates in multi-center trials focused on retinopathy of prematurity, strabismus, amblyopia, myopia and optic neuritis. He has received federal, local and private industry funding for his research, in addition to participating in non-funded research. He actively publishes research and has presented all over the world. David Rogers, MD, is an Ohio native who earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University. He completed medical school at Wright State University. His ophthalmology residency training was at Indiana University School of Medicine and fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus was completed at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Rogers is a busy clinician with 15 years’ experience in pediatric ophthalmic surgery. He is also a committed researcher and serves in a number of administrative roles. He has served as the Chief of the Department of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital since January 2019 and most recently became the interim Chief of Pediatric Ophthalmology at Dayton Children’s Hospital in February 2021. He is active on multiple committees at Nationwide Children’s Hospital outside of the Department of Ophthalmology.
