(From the February 2023 Issue of Medstat) Ohio Amblyope Registry The Ohio Amblyope Registry (OAR) is the first and only statewide program in the United States designed to serve the needs of children with amblyopia, commonly known as “lazy eye,” their families and eye doctors. It is a voluntary registration program to increase knowledge about amblyopia, its treatment and prevention. The OAR provides free eye patches for the treatment of amblyopia, free literature about amblyopia, and other services to help families of children with amblyopia. All services are free of charge (restricted to Ohio residents only). The OAR is part of the Save our Sight program that receives voluntary contributions from the check-off donation box on the Ohio License plate renewal forms. Dr. John T. It is part of Nationwide Children’s Early Childhood Mental Health Program. TIP serves children with the highest emotional and behavioral needs who struggle to succeed in a typical preschool setting. TIP is a collaboration between Nationwide Children’s Behavioral Health, Psychiatry, Clinical Therapies and the Child Development Council of Franklin County Head Start. This therapeutic classroom provides a stable, predictable learning environment with a focus on social-emotional development and therapeutic and developmental interventions. Children are eligible if they:
Are a Franklin County resident and between the ages of 3 and 5 Struggle in childcare/preschool or they have a history of expulsions due to behavioral health symptoms/behaviors Have no concern about intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder or require intensive nursing involvement
If you have a child who you believe may be eligible, they must be referred to the Early Childhood Mental Health Program through Behavioral Health Intake for a multidisciplinary trauma-sensitive evaluation. Call (614) 355-8080 to refer to Early Childhood Mental Health. Children who do not meet criteria for classroom placement are still offered outpatient treatment services if indicated. The Pharmacy Coverage Updates document, which highlights relevant changes to the UPDL, has also been updated. Highlights for the first quarter UPDL:
Ventolin® and Proventil® albuterol metered dose inhaler brands are preferred. Proair® brand has been discontinued. All methylphenidate products will have a PA-required designation for patients younger than 6 years old.
