Biography
Betsy Schmalz, MS, CGC, received her MS degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1985. She worked with Boris Kousseff, MD at the University of South Florida from 1985-1988. She achieved her genetic counseling board certification in 1987. In 1988, she started with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Clinical Genetics. Initially, her time was split between Nationwide Children’s and The Ohio State University Maternal Fetal Medicine. She became the first prenatal genetic counselor at OSU, while still employed by Nationwide Children’s. She left OSU MFM in late 2016 to return to Nationwide Children’s to provide pediatric genetic counseling.
