Biography

  Annie Matthews OTD, OTR/L, CLC, CNT, always knew she wanted to work with children. She graduated from Ohio State University with her BA in Psychology and Spanish. She then worked in Early Intervention for three years, which is where she discovered Occupational Therapy. She earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2008. She worked in pediatrics for three years before embracing the NICU full time, which was always her passion. She helped to establish a Neonatal Therapy Program for a Level III NICU in Mission Hills, CA, before moving to Ohio and working at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She has enjoyed working in both the main campus and St. Ann’s NICUs and is passionate about supporting best outcomes for infants and their families during their NICU hospitalization. In addition to clinical practice, she enjoys training staff, research, and collaboration with NICU staff.

    “What matters most to me is optimizing infant brain growth and development, supporting infant/caregiver bonding, and setting up infants and caregivers for success with the transition home.”
