Biography
Amanda Sankar, MD, is a Hematology Inpatient Hospitalist within the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplant and an assistant professor at The Ohio State University. Dr. Sankar’s clinical interests are in general hematology, in particular sickle cell disease and coagulation disorders.
Her research interests include sickle cell disease complications such as acute chest syndrome and fluid management, iron metabolism and red blood cell differentiation, reactions to stem cell infusions during bone marrow transplants, and complications of thromboembolism. Dr. Sankar also has an interest in medical education; she supervises and instructs medical students and residents in the care of patients with sickle cell disease and coagulation disorders in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
Dr. Sankar attended medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine and received residency training from the University of Toledo Department of Pediatrics. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the University of Michigan as well as an additional year of fellowship training in hemostasis and thrombosis.
